In seiner indopazifischen Heimatregion benötigt Amerika nach wie vor die Sicherheit einer weltkriegsmäßigen Siegermacht; einer Macht, die die anderen Staaten der Region als fest verbündete, verlässlich eingeordnete Mitglieder einer kapitalistischen Ordnung kennt, in der Amerika das unbestrittene Vorbild und die unangefochtene, bestimmende Vormacht ist und bleibt.
Die Beteuerung, wie sehr die USA zu dieser Region gehören, steht insofern für die umgekehrte Klarstellung, wie sehr diese Region den USA gehört – als deren Besitzstand, ohne den sie die Weltmacht nicht sein können, als die allein sie sich für existenzfähig halten.
